This little San Diego brewery makes some enormous beers.
After trying their Islander Ale a few weeks ago I couldn’t wait to get into a bottle of Idiot, and let me tell you, there’s nothing stupid about this beer.
From the snap of the bottle cap your nose is filled with soft fruits and sweets.
Some of the things that make Coronado’s Islander are in here too – That delicious sweet shop tang and bubble gum juiciness.
But where Islander was rounded and soft, this is a great big pointy, sharp beast in a soft downy jacket.
It more than easily sits alongside it’s fellow Double IPAs.
I was given grapefruits in brown sugar, crisp, light woody notes, and delightful hints of passion flower.
Then there’s the hops.
Over three pounds of hops per barrel are used to make this beauty, and you can tell.
This little bottle treats you to the longest, cleanest, driest, most bitter and delicious finish that you could hope for.
