De Ranke Père Noël (7%)

This special Christmas beer was a present from my mum and is really rather good.
The 750ml bottle opens with a burst of yeasty fruit and pours into the glass a deep honeyed amber with a lacy head.
Beautifully fizzed, the first mouthful is full of bruised orchard Fruits.
Succulent apples and pears give way to a lightly spiced, liquorice rich beer with a big strong zesty bite.
The addition of sugar candy to the mix lends a sticky sweetness that highlights the tartness and prickly notes of the spicy hops.
The finish is bitter and dry and steely and very very more-ish.
