Barnsley Beer Co. Ronnie’s Owd Cock (4%)

Brewed under the Barnsley Beer Co. name by Wentworth, and with 10p from every bottle going to Bowel Cancer UK in honour of Ronnie Swaine from Rhythm & Booze, this is a good beer with a mission.
And this is a good beer.
Emptying out of the bottle a very light straw colour with little to no head, there’s just enough sparkle to hold my attention.
The smell is soft caramel and biscuits and that follows through into the first mouthful.
The malts are honey rich, all runny and unctuous.
There’s a decent digestive biscuit depth that gives a good rounded feel and then a big fat whip of hops that scours your palate with a super dry, crisp and bitter lingering finish that’s full of elderflower, grapefruit pith and a squeeze of lemon.
Super.
