Mikkeller Amarillo Single Hop IPA (6.9%)

Is this beer intended to highlight the flavours of the Amarillo hop?
I suppose it is.
And I guess it does.
But Mikkeller seem to make cartoon beers, so it’s almost inconsequential which hop is in here.
That’s not a bad thing.
Far from it.
This is a Muppet IPA.
Gonzo as a liquid.
Enormous flavours that take no prisoners, talk in funny voices and leave you laughing in ecstasy.
There’s a rubber lipped malt that plays the straight man, feeding sticky caramel covered biscuit lines that grab your attention and draw you in.
Then the hops walk right up to you and deliver their killer punch line.
Amped up beyond belief, the hops are enormous and delicious, full of sweeties and fruits and spicy goodness.
They’re satisfyingly ridiculous with their ludicrous moustaches and googly eyes.
If this is Gonzo, I wonder if the other single hops are Fozzie and Kermit?
