Sterkens St. Paul Double (6.9%)

What a lovely little bottle of beer this is.
I ordered a mixed case from Bier Huis, and this is the star of the show.
Top fermented Belgian heaven.
The beer is rosewood deep with a light, fluffy head.
Smelling of slightly sour stewed plums, you get a first hit of bruised apples followed by a gorgeous liquorice and metallic yeast bite.
Add to that splashes of black coffee, treacle toffee, wafers and hedgerow flowers, finished off with a lovely hoppy dryness and this becomes 330ml of pure delight.
And all presented in a beautiful long, sleek bottle.
