Did I read an article recently that struck the death knell for lager?
If I did the author is very wrong indeed because we need to be buying it and enjoying it.
Especially when it’s this good and has been made this well.
Brewed for six weeks and left unfiltered, the flavours here are really big and beautiful.
The beer pours a summery light straw with a perfect white bubbling head, and it gives off the most lovely aroma of orchards and wild flower meadows.
The initial flavour is lemon rind but all around the edges there are spices whipping in with little bursts of brittle heat.
This gives way to a super caramel sweetness tempered by a terrific, slightly woody yeast flavour, before the finish goes dry and crisp and clean.
Lager is definitely NOT dead.
