Brouwerij Van Eecke Kapittel Pater (6%)

Oh, now this I like a lot.
A beer that pours a bitter chocolate brown with a foamy heady and smell of raisins and peaches, spicy walnuts and a little yeast.
You get a splash of espresso and dark chocolate in the malts, but they’re quickly and playfully arm-wrestled to the side by a treacle and brioche bully who wants to make you taste his spices.
Black pepper and mace to be precise.
Then you’re rescued by a gang of pears, all juicy and ripe, fleshy and fun.
The hops are the cool kids, sharp and handsome, they’re full of cherry stones and orchard leaves, sage and rosemary fried in honey and then citrusy mandarin and lemon peel.
They chew on liquorice and suck sherbet fountains and leave you a big bunch of garden flowers as a finish before they wander slowly away to find someone else to hang out with.
