Colchester Brewery Metropolis (3.9%)

This was very kindly given to me by Juston (@1970sBOY) as it’s brewed reasonably locally to him.
I’m glad he did as I’d probably not have bought a 3.9% beer like this if confronted with it in a shop and I’m very glad I’ve tried it.
Pouring a nice golden range, Metropolis smells of straw and apricots and ever so slightly of bananas.
The malts here are light caramels topped with apple cores and peppercorns that pop in a rather nice and spicy way.
Metropolis’ hops are dry as a bone, tart and sharp, full of lemon peel and pear skins, green and almost sour, they sting like summer netles and leave a very enjoyable sapling wood pith on your tongue.
