Brouwerij St. Bernardus Christmas Ale (10%)

Christmas AleWhat a lovely beer to end Christmas day with.
750ml of deep purple brown beer with a delightful foaming head that smells of Christmas pudding, all dried fruit steeped in Brandy along with a yeasty hoppy goodness.
The malts are deep and dark and brown with a hint of pumpernickel, plum pudding, sozzled damsons and an aniseed roundness.
The hopping is spiky, spicy and sharp.
A bunch of bramble leaves, blackberry and raspberry tartness, and a hazelnut pithiness that leaves a finish you just want to snuggle up next to.
It’s warm and alcoholic, liquorice sticky and wonderfully fresh and dry.
Until next year, Happy Christmas.
