Three Friends Brewery Hopped American Amber (5.4%)

Hopped American AmberThis beer from the Three Friends reminds me a little of BrewDg’s 5AM Saint.
It has that same berry red colour and a floral caramel aroma.
But this is a far more bitter beer and all the better for it.
Yes, the malts are rich and thick and sweet with melted toffee and maple syrup.
And yes, there are some lovely summer garden flowers and a hint of Parma Violets.
There’s also hops that are spicy and sharp, full of lemon juice, a load of lychee flesh and some crisp, clean elderflower.
But there’s also a very nice resinous woody pine nut and birch bark dryness that makes this a rather fine beer all of its own.
Very nice indeed.
