Abbaye De Maredsous Triple (10%)

Maredsous TripleThis stubby little bottle came as part of my monthly Beer Hawk Club delivery and it’s a really nice surprise.
Opening with a smell of brandy snaps and cornflakes, the beer is a glowing amber with a soft fluffy head.
There’s a really big toffee apple encrusted with red peppercorns at the heart of this triple, all gooey and rich, slightly bitter with burned sugar, and sweet with Bramley cores.
The finish here is sharp brambles, blackcurrant leaves, grape skins and just a hint of peppery watercress that leaves a dry bitterness on your tongue.
Very nice indeed.
