Growler Brewery Old Growler (5.5%)

Old GrowlerIsn’t it funny?
I like this beer a lot and yet I can’t find much to say about it.
Perhaps it’s just because Old Growler does exactly what you want a dark ale to do.
You know, chocolate and coffee, some fruitiness, rum and raisin, digestive biscuits, a little Marmite meatiness.
Old Growler Porter as it’s called on the rear of its label (it’s a “Robust Superior Dark Beer” on the front), is a really good beer that I would happily drink regularly.
It’s not overly exciting, not challenging, not in your face in any way, it’s simply an excellently brewed dark beer that I can’t find any fault with.
Sometimes the unexceptional is absolutely perfect.
