Hart Family Brewers No. 1 (4.1%)

No1This is just what I needed after the hops assault of the last few days’ beers.
Pouring a runny honey amber with a light foamy head, No. 1 smells of orchard fruits and a little marzipan.
There’s a big round gooey toffee at the heart of this beer, it’s sticky and chewy and sweetly comforting.
Across it cuts apple and pear juice, some brambles and hazel leaves.
The malts return in the finish with a nice bran heavy biscuit that adds depth and warmth to the long dry finish.
Very good indeed.
