Hart Family Brewers No. 8 (5%)

No8Another winner from Hart, this is their dark beer, their stout I suppose, and it pours black hole deep with a narrow ring of cappuccino head.
The smell is espresso, chocolate and just a little red chili.
This is a big and robust meaty beer stuffed with bitter dark chocolate and drenched in smoky black coffee.
There are walnuts too, woody and dry, as well as some stewed fruit and a little mushroom fug right in the background.
The hops are crunchy and red, all dry leaves, some wood resin and lots of sappy fresh sapling pithiness.
The finish has hints of honey, burned bitter sweet treacle and then a surprising nettle sting kick right at the end that leaves a lovely freshness on your tongue.
