Cheddar Ales Gorge Best (4.2%)

Gorge BestI know it’s silly, but I really like the name of this beer.
It makes me smile.
It’s just such a bad play on words.
Gorge Best is a Bitter that pours a warm copper with a decent bubbly head.
There’s not too much of an aroma, just a light toffee and a hint of yeast.
Taking a swig you are immediately presented with a big sticky caramel.
The kind that sticks to your teeth and pulls at your fillings, but you can’t stop chewing all the same.
There are some biscuit crumbs too, and they’re soaked in apple juice, sea salt and pepper.
The hops are brittle and sharp with lots of hazel and birch, some sapling pith and chamomile tea that leaves a finish that’s only just bitter enough for my liking.
Still, great name.
