George Wright Brewing Co. Cheeky Pheasant (4.7%)

Cheeky PheasantI like this a lot.
It’s not the most exciting beer but it does exactly what you want and what’s more it does it very well indeed.
Cheeky Pheasant is a beautiful polished walnut table of a beer.
A table covered in toffee and fig rolls.
The smell is red berries and bran flakes, mainly plums but with some strawberries on the side.
This is a plump, round and ripe beer, fat with juicy sultanas, plum jam and wholemeal toast.
The hops add a particularly English greenness, with lots of rain soaked lawns, dandelions and sharp stinging nettles soaked in lemon curd, but there’s a touch of the Empire too, with a nice warm tamarind tartness towards the end.
All this makes for a finish that’s bitter and dry and simply makes me want another glass.
