Little Valley Brewery Stoodley Stout (4.8%)

Stoodley DStoutStoodley Stout is pretty good.
Pouring a deep dark brown and smelling of rum and raisin chocolate, its head is thick and cappuccino coloured.
There’s a good digestive biscuit and espresso in the malts that gives way to plums and prunes, raisins and dark chocolate.
The hops provide crisp, dry, red leaf litter, a little wood chip and some very nice bitter blackberry leaf pithiness.
The finish is a decent bitter, warm chocolate coffee, but nothing hangs around for quite long enough.
I’d like a little more body, a little more presence.
But still, not bad.
