Wincle Beer Co. Sir Philip (4.2%)

Sir PhilipSir Philip is Wincle’s Best Bitter and it’s yet another fine beer form this brewery.
I opened it and as I poured I found myself saying out loud, “Ooh, vanilla, toffee and bran flakes.”
I know I said it out loud as my son stopped looking at his XBox for long enough t o ask me what on earth I was talking about.
Sir Philip is a warm copper coloured beer that has a very good biscuit body all wrapped up in a thick sticky toffee overcoat, gooey and chewy, thick and satisfying.
There’s a light background fruitiness like damsons seen from afar, and a bunch of Challenger and Fuggles that bite and snap with brambles and nettles, hazelnuts and apples.
All this and a super dry, crisp and puckeringly bitter finish.
What a good Bitter this is.
