Zombier is a collaboration between Fyne Ales and winners of the 2012 IBD Scottish home brewing competition, Jake Griffiths and Chris Lewis.
It’s a Porter and it’s pretty good.
Zombier pours a purple black and smells of blackberries and plums and chocolate.
This is a coffee and chocolate heavy beer, rich and thick but fortunately tempered by stewed plum sweetness before it all gets too cloying.
There are some decent crunchy leaf litter hops with a touch of lemon zest, just big enough to cut into the big slab of dark chocolate and espresso with a moist towelette of citrus zing.
All this and a rum tinged alcoholic heat that keeps you warm while Zombier’s finish slaps you with its long bitter undead hand.
