So far I’ve had three beers from this brewery and each time I’ve been stopped in my tracks.
Wild Beer Co. are making some seriously good beer.
Put It In Your Pipe is a stout that pours an inky black with a sexy little lace of bubbles for a head.
The smell is chocolate by a fireside, rich and smoky and warmly sensual.
As you take a mouthful you are given a super bitter chocolate, a little rum, some raisins, and then black tea and a lovely hint of jasmine.
Te smokiness builds as you drink but doesn’t overwhelm.
Instead it thickens the flavours, makes them big and meaty.
You get a fleeting glimpse of aniseed and then a thorny blackberry leaf hedgerow bitterness that’s equally juicy with berries and crunchy leaf dry.
All this ends with a long smoky fug that wafts across a candied sugar sweetness.
Wild Beer Co. may be slowly stealing my heart.
