Mikkeller Stateside IPA (6.9%)

Stateside IPAYet another great little beer from Mikkeller, and this time it’s brewed at De Proef Brewery in Belgium using American hops and yeast.
I don’t really know what to say about this beer except that it’s a lovely deep amber with a fierce billowing head like the hair of an angry granny standing stoically on the deck of a cruise ship in a hurricane.
Oh, and I should also tell you that this is a smelly beer, a stinky beer, a lounging in its own mess beer.
It stinks of varnished fruit.
And then as you drink it you realise that the old woman with the hairdo is a bit drunk and rather amorous.
She comes on all fruity, a little lavender behind the ear, some toffee sweets to tempt you and a heavy bitter hairspray that dries your palate as her coarse grainy face looms over you.
I love this IPA, but I think that Mikkeller may be evil.
And now I feel a bit weird and uncomfortable with myself.
