Salopian Brewery Automaton (7%)

AutomatonAnother little bottle of brilliance from Salopian, hopped with Citra and Saaz, Automaton is a big juicy IPA.
Pouring a honey gold witha  feisty foaming head, the smell is citrus rind and jelly sweets.
As you know I’m not a big fan of Citra, but here it’s held in check just enough by the Saaz that adds a spicy, sappy leafiness to the huge lemon peel and grapefruit pip hit that lurks in every corner of this beer.
Underpinning all this hoppy magic is a plump round marshmallow, burned at the edges and going all gloopy over a crunchy brown breadstick.
The finish is long, dry and crisp, and layered with a passion flower and heather honey bitter sweetness that just makes you want to go back for more.
