No fancy name, no labels, just brilliant home brewed beer.
To me receiving home brew in the post is one of the most exciting things about writing about beer.
It’s like receiving demo tapes used to feel, you just never knew what you were going to get.
This time I’ve got gold.
Brewed with Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo, this is a superb IPA.
It pours a rich mahogany with a fluffy cloud for a head and smells of lightly spiced jelly sweets.
There’s a good solid malt that’s big and chewy and full of toffee and just a hint of raisins.
But this beer is all about its hops, and they don’t disappoint.
There’s a lovely juicy freshness to them that gives a real depth to the mango and peach meatiness, the lemongrass and lime zest zing, and the mandarin peel pithiness, along with a sweet shop full of all your favourite childhood sweeties.
Thanks for the beer dude, it’s ace.
