Geeves Brewery Red Diesel (4.1%)

Red DieselOh dear, oh dear.
This is dangerously drinkable.
Red Diesel is a single hopped Ruby Ale with a lovely mahogany hue and a smell that’s full of red fruits, vanilla pods and earth.
There’s a rich treacle in the malts, sticky and gooey, but edged with a good burned sugar bitterness.
And floating around in the background is a lightly spiced meatiness that, if I didn’t know better, I would say is the pumpernickel thing I find in beers brewed with rye.
Red Diesel is hopped solely with Willamette which gives the beer a round fruitiness that’s all lemon juice over peaches and plums, and some fresh rolling tobacco that’s sharp and woody and leads to a vanilla tinged crisp bitter finish.
