George Wright Brewing Co. Citra (5.1%)

CitraI must be coming around to the ways of Citra, because I really like this beer.
I’m still not convinced by the smell of this lovely looking golden beer and its invitingly fluffy head.
I don’t like how Citra smells, it’s that underlying old cat wee thing that clings to the back of the fruity aroma.
But to drink this is lovely.
The malting is thick caramel, slightly creamy, with a hint of vanilla biscuit, rather like a Custard Cream.
Over this Citra shouts out loud.
Lots of lime zest, mango juice, lemon pips and a hint of peppery rocket that I’ve never noticed from this hop before.
The finish here, as you might expect, is a long drawn out affair that’s crisp, dry, bitter and refreshing.
Oh, and I really like the labels for this range too.
