Mikkeller Cascade (6.8%)

CascadeEveryone loves Cascade.
Don’t they?
An obvious choice perhaps, but this is my favourite of the single hop IPA series from Mikkeller that I’ve tried.
Good old Cascade.
The beer is the same colour as the others and the malt is pretty much identical too*.
But Cascade – A hop variety from Oregon, USA – gives a good grapefruit and peach aroma that combined with the malts gives a round cherry fudge background.
The flavour is punchy and sharp without being overly bitter, so you get lots of lovely citrus – lime, grapefruit, you know the score – and a good fizzy sweet shop acidity, but nothing gets eye wateringly overpowering.
And the finish here is well balanced with honey and grapefruit, sweet and sharp, dry and lasting.
I for one love Cascade.
