Mikkeller Galena (6.8%)

GalenaMikkeller continue their wander through the world of single hopped IPAs with Galena, an American hop that’s not quite as shouty as some of its countryfolk.
It sits in my glass a rather appetising orange with a feisty head and the smell is gently spiced orange.
The malt here is honey and bread crusts, a little burned sugar and a light fudge butteriness.
Over this Galena offers up lots of mandarins and satsumas, all bright orange zestiness.
There’s a good blob of woody resin too, and some pretty passion fruit sweetness before the long and lingering and bitter finish.
What BrewDog tried with this year’s IPA Is Dead series, Mikkeller manage with effortless style.
