Oh man, that’s good.
And just what I needed on this sweltering IPA Day afternoon.
I poured the beer badly and so it looks a bit soupy, but the smell is lovely fruit shortcake soaked in booze, which is pretty much where the malts begin.
Big soft biscuity goodness and lots of dried fruit, but also quite a large alcohol hit that’s warming and only just teetering on the right side of burn.
The hops are sharp and bitter, floral garden borders and mown lawn pithiness cut through with lemon and lime and just a hint of patchouli and aniseed.
All this ends with a long burned toffee and brandy snap brittle and bitterly sweet dry finish.
Happy IPA Day 2013.
