Rogue Ales Mocha Porter (5.3%)

Mocha PorterFor me this is Rogue’s weakest brew.
It’s still pretty good mind you.
Mocha Porter is a purple brown beer with a cappuccino head and a smell that’s plums in an old wooden box.
The malts are heavy with coffee and chocolate, treacle toffee and cracked black pepper.
They’re big and round and fat.
Against this the hops are sharp and bitter, crisp winter leaves, crunchy and brown but doused in fresh citrus juice, and there’s a nice woody resinous finish.
So, actually, Mocha Porter is a very good beer, it’s just not Rogue’s best.
