I’m impressed.
Still not a patch on The Kernel’s sublime Table Beer, QIPA is a league above most of the other low ABV beers currently being made.
The aroma is a super fresh mango and patchouli, and the soft brandy snap and wafer malts provide a decent body.
Over this there’s a huge floral hop hit that’s packed with grapefruit and lemongrass, mown lawns, passion fruit and hibiscus.
What makes this so much better than, say, Dead Pony Club, is that the flavours manage to hang around and, dare I say it, build like they would with a stronger beer.
The finish is QIPA’s only real weakness.
It’s nice and dry but not quite long enough.
For a low alcohol, easy drinking, afternoon tipple you can’t do much better.
