I was in the mood for a pint of Bitter and so I grabbed this.
I made a wise choice too, as Monument Bitter is really rather good.
It’s unprepossessing, nothing over the top, just a really well made Best Bitter.
The aroma is nutty toffee apples and the beer sits a rich dark amber in my glass.
The malting here is Daim bar praline, digestive biscuits and red berries, and there’s a super sharp bitter hit from the hops.
Lots of hedgerow pithiniess, nettle tea, grass clippings and lemon pips.
All this makes for a finish that’s crisp and bitter and very satisfying.
