Wincle Beer Co. Old Hag (5.2%)

Old HagThis is a lovely Porter.
Or is it a Stout?
The bottle tells me it’s a Stout Porter, and that description will do just fine.
Old Hag is big and deep and deliciously warm and spicy, pouring as black as night and smelling of chocolate coated berries.
I was surprised at how smoky this beer tastes, like drinking rum and eating chocolate, figs and treacle in front of an open fire.
And over all this sticky sweet toffee coated goodness there’s a much needed cup of fine black coffee and super resinous hops full of pine needles and crisp autumn  leaves.
Yes, this is a lovely Porter, or Stout, or Stout Porter.
