Partizan’s Strong Golden Belgian Ale sits right on the edge of sour, pours a delicious gold with an enormous cloud of bubbles for a head, and smells of apple sauce, stables and leather.
There’s a soft and sticky spun sugar glazed Danish pastry malt with the slightest hint of cinnamon and nutmeg, a big mushroom meatiness, orchard fruits and a steel tray yeast thing going on.
And then there’s bitterly herbal hedgerow hops – which isn’t easy to say once you’re halfway through SGB.
The finish is salty lemons and bitters that last and last.
SGB is a beautifully packaged, beautiful beer.
