Axholme Brewing Co. Pumpkin Porter (4.3%)

Pumpkin PorterI’ll say it straight away.
This is a lovely beer.
It’s smooth and creamy an satisfying.
It pours a deep and dark purple black and smells of sweet coffee and chocolate.
There’s a big burned toast malt, drenched in melted bitter chocolate and caramel and a little kick from the nutmeg that’s been added to the brew.
The hops are bitter and crunchy with dry autumnal leaves, resinous with wood sap and fresh with lemon juice and garden foliage.
The pumpkin doesn’t add flavour so much as it adds a delicious thickness to the feel of the beer.
I like this a lot.
