Blue Monkey Brewery Silverback In The USSR (10.5%)

Silverback In The USSRThis is a big fat round cuddly gorilla of a beer, and rightly so coming from Blue Monkey.
It pours a deep dense black and smells of stewed plums, apples and jelly sweets in damp wooden crates.
The flavours aren’t easy to break down as this is a beer that simply thumps at you with big hairy fists of flavour.
Rum heat and lots of red berries, kids’ sweets, old writing desks and boxing gloves, bouquet garni, treacle liquorice, coffee and bitter dark chocolate.
Silverback In The USSR is a beery King Kong, frighteningly big but warm and cuddly at heart, and the name is brilliant too.
