Brouwerij Kompaan Kompaanbier Nr. 45 (7.1%)

Nr 45Yet another brewery I’ve waited a long time to try.
And another that’s been worth the wait.
Nr. 45 is a Belgian style Strong Ale and it’s super.
Pouring a deep mahogany with an enormous cappuccino head, the smell is wholewheat bread dough on a stainless steel platter.
Taking a mouthful you get hefty treacle toffee and tamarind, candy sugar, black olives and liquorice before the rusty red crunchy leaf litter hops give you a good bitter dryness that cuts across the treacle tart of Nr. 45’s body.
This is very good indeed.
