Gloucester Brewery Cascade (5%)

CascadeMy first experience of Gloucester Brewery wasn’t great and I said. This is completely different and light years better. A chestnut red beer hopped with Cascade, the smell is oranges and pine resin. There’ a lovely sticky resinous hum to the flavour too, it hangs around behind everything else, glueing it all together. The malts are chewy toffee and biscuits flecked with cracked peppercorns, and the hops are sharp lemon rind, orange juice and bitter green foliage full of passion flowers. The finish is long and crisp, bitter and dry. Gloucester’s Cascade – Is it a Bitter or an IPA, or does it not really matter? – is a very good beer indeed. Source: Gloucester Brewery
