Siren have been ageing their Broken Dream Breakfast Stout in various different barrels.
This one has been aged in Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels.
It’s not as in your face as I imagined it might be, and it’s frighteningly drinkable.
Broken Dream is a coffee and oat milk stout, all round and satisfying.
The ageing has added a woody spikiness and a whisky warmth.
There’s a fruity rum and raisin roundness and a definite boozy hit to what is already a hefty bitter chocolate, espresso and treacle beer.
Very nice indeed.
