To Øl Black Ball (8%)

Black BallWhat a gloriously boozy Porter this is.
Black Ball pours an inky black with a big cappuccino head and smells of salted treacle toffee.
The mix of malts here – five of them to be precise – give a burned toast, beef stock, cigar smoke and bitter chocolate that’s made rich and warming by the hefty rum hit of the booze.
The hops are crunchy and brown, dead leaves and chestnuts, rolling tobacco, hazel twigs and nettles.
To Øl’s Black Ball is a superb little Porter with an enormous alcohol punch and a finish that’s sticky sweet, walnut woody and lime juice bitter.
Skål!
