Widmer Bros. Brewing Pitch Black IPA (6.5%)

Pitch Black IPAAnother new brewery on me and another nice beer.
Widmer Bros are based in Portland, Oregon and they’ve brewed a pretty good little Black IPA that smells like lavender laced coffee.
There’s a chocolate biscuit, coffee and treacle malt, soft and smooth, it forms a good round body to the beer.
And then there are hops.
Not a huge hoppy explosion, but big enough to make your tongue tingle with sharp sherbet coated citrus fruit, lime leaves and tangy orange juice.
The finish is bitter, honeyed, dry and lingering.
All in all a very nice beer indeed.
