Meantime Brewing Co. Imperial Pilsner (8%)

Imperial PilsnerIn a single mouthful this has become a favourite Meantime beer.
And it’s a big beer.
Presented in a 750ml bottle, this is a lager on steroids.
It pours a deep delicious gold with a fluffy white head and it smells of flower borders and white pepper.
There’s a thick viscous feel to the beer, coating your tongue with caramel and toffee apples, acorns and hazelnuts.
A herbal woodiness comes in too, not green and leafy, but brown and crunchy like a twig or two from a rosemary bush got into the mash tun.
It’s sticky and resinous but just as it’s about to get too much it’s cut through by a good splash of fresh lemon juice that leaves a zingy yet warm and boozy finish.
