I’m not sure what to say about this.
I really really want to love it, give it a glowing review, simper and gush over it.
But I can’t.
There’s a light cider vinegar hum to the aroma and a malt that’s caramel shortcake, peppercorns and a hint of damp straw.
The hops are grassy and green, like chewing dandelion leaves, pithy and bitter.
But everything is coated in a weird chalky texture and above all else, this bottle of Northern Gates is as flat as dish water.
It’s a lot of money down the sink, but that’s where it went.
What a pity.
