Rocky Head Brewery BAM! (7%)

BAM!BAM!
It’s a dangerous thing to call your beer.
What if it doesn’t go BAM!?
Fortunately this one does.
BAM! is a heavily hopped IPA which the label tells me is brewed with Belgian techniques.
I’m not entirely sure I know what that means but I am pretty sure I can taste that lovely sharp metallic farm machinery Belgian yeast thing going on.
The smell is lemon coated wooden chopping boards and the beer pours a very nice bright orange.
There’s a fat chewy toffee malt with plenty of freshly baked pastry and some spun sugar sweetness.
The American hops are resinous and full of grapefruit and lime, sherbet and peaches, and all of this is given extra body by a lovely candy floss Saison-like musk that floats around in the background helping make a finish that’s equally bright and bitter and honey sweet.
BAM!
Indeed.
