Do I like this beer?
A great big IPA packed with hops and brewed at De Molen?
What do you think?
Chica Americana IPA is super.
It sits in my glass a glowing warm amber with a constant fizz creating a soft fluffy head and smelling of varnished peaches and tangerines nailed to pine floorboards.
The malting is dry, crunchy biscuits drooling sticky toffee gloop while snorting lines of white pepper.
And then there are hops.
Head scouring hops.
Amarillo, Cascade, Chinook and Columbus to be exact.
They’re heavy with redwood resin, lime leaves, grapefruit skins and lemon pips, along with satsumas and rice paper, jelly sweets and a hint of aniseed.
And all of this with a sharp dry woodiness that creates a finish to die for.
Super.
