This is a rather tasty beer, though I’d argue it’s much more of a Best bitter than an IPA.
You say tomato and I say, um, tomato.
Pouring a deep conker red, Sussex IPA smells of peppery toffee apples.
And there’s a big toffee apple at the heart of this beer’s flavour too.
Big and round and fruity, you also get some pear juice, walnuts and wholemeal toast, and just the faintest hint of chocolate.
The hops are elderflower and blackberry leaf tea, garden foliage and some fresh green herbs.
All this makes for a buttery smooth, crisp bitter finish.
A very drinkable beer, but an IPA?
