Ellenberg’s Brewery Dark Smoky Wheat Beer (6.5%)

Dark Smoky Wheat BeerInspired by German Dunkel Hefeweizens, this is a lovely bottle of beer that pours a deep and dark purple brown and smells of treacle, cinnamon and vanilla.
The malts are toasted brown bread, treacle tart and black pepper, thick and chewy and backed up by the soft warm spicy banana and cloves of the yeast.
The hops are very herbal, with lots of tarragon and basil, lime leaf zing and a gentle chamomile tea undercurrent.
All of this is surrounded in a light smoky mist that adds an earthiness to the creamy, fresh finish.
