This is rather good.
Hackney’s Dark Lager smells of dark chocolate, rum and raisin, and sits in my glass a deep mahogany with just a trace of bubbles for a head.
There’s a big woody crunch and plenty of brittle dry leaves clambering about all over this beer.
They’re crisp and sharp and underneath them you find a soft treacle toffee, black pepper and burned cinnamon toast from the malts that adds a lovely rich meatiness to this excellent little bottle of beer.
