Otley Brewing Co. Motley Brew (7.5%)

Motley BrewMotley Brew is Otley’s Double IPA and though it’s been available for quite some time I’ve only just managed to get a hold of it.
And guess what?
It’s really rather good.
Pouring a warm orange with a little lacy head, the smell is spiced clementine marmalade, sweet and sticky.
The malting is honey soaked sponge fingers, white pepper and crusty toasted bread, and there’s candy floss too, along with a dry apricot fruitiness over which the hops are stingingly sharp.
Packed with lime leaves and sherbet coated kiwi, mandarin, grapefruit and grass clippings, around the edges you also find a hint of patchouli oiliness and a little liquorice which adds a perfumed sweetness to the long bitter finish.
Yes, rather good indeed.
