Now this is a little bit special.
It’s a smoked Brown Ale that sits a deep chestnut red in my glass, it’s big frothy head like a beery cloud, and a smell that’s honey coated nuts roasted on a bonfire.
The malting is big and red and crunchy with walnuts, hazelnuts and brittle burned toffee, and charred wholemeal toast too.
Then there’s a lovely chewy pine resin stickiness, along with a super mown lawn bitterness, sharp nettles and elderflower, and a lovely sapling wood pithiness that dries on your tongue readying you for your next sip.
And all the while everything is enveloped in a rich wood smoke fog that warms this beer and makes it rich and comforting.
The Smoked Brown is a really super beer.
