Crooked Stave Vieille (4.2%)

VieilleWowsers.
Vieille is a dry hopped Saison aged in oak barrels and it’s superb.
It pours a golden yellow and its smell is orchard fruit and damp woodland.
There’s a fungal fug drifting around this beer, all field mushrooms in damp wooden crates.
Over this there’s toffee and sour dough bread, it’s crusty, crunchy and sticky, and there’s a fistful of bitter green lemony hops packed with grass clippings and tea leaves.
And with its dry and bitter, bordering on sour finish, Vieille is absolutely delightful.

Thanks very much to Matthew Curtis () for this bottle of beer.
